Does anyone know how this compares to the Hitachi C12RSH, that Costco is now carrying (either in stores, or arriving soon), for $399?She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice. -
there was actually a link that i had found that compared the ridgid, hitachi and bosch or makita brands. i cant find it right now, but when i do, i will post it here.
i would go with the hitachi for the same price. the slider on the hitachi is on the side, so it doesnt need all that extra depth that the ridgid needs. you can place the hitachi much closer to the wall becuase of this. -- thats just one difference.
ridgid has the lifetime service thing, which i dont think you need to worry about since hitachi is a pretty good brand too.
here is the spec page for hitachi and this is for ridgids._________________________

$349 on BF so not the lowest price. Personally I do not like the build of the saw. They have changed this model 4 times already, I think, and must be planing a newer one. I saw them in a stack on the BF weekend sale and none seem to sell even at $349. I have the new Milwaukee 12", which has a digital miter but not bevel and I am sorry I bought it over the Makita actually as it lacks extensions, no hold down, has more head flex, smaller table, cheaper blade,no way to adjust the friction on the slides[really dumb] and is very complicated in build, so repair maybe costly if something breaks. I use my DW717 the most, and keep that for Crown/tall base mld.. I have to use my DW crown stops as Milwaukee does not make any, but they do fit the same.AndrewComment

Got the DW717 today... wanted the 15" due to down the road I'm going to redo the stair case in my home but the 15" really would have been over kill for me. Lowes was selling in my area the dw717 for $449 and dewalt had a 17% sale last week, asked the manager if he would still honor the sale price even thought it was over, which he did. Out the door price of $399, so not too bad and it basically for cuts at 0 degree has the same capacity of the Ridgid ms1290. One note on build of the saw as you were talking about the ridgid, the slide on the MD1290 seemed a little sloppy on the floor model which got me looking at other models.
