    Jet F-style bar clamps

Rockler has 36" Bar clamps with SumoGrip handles only $6.49 each! I would buy a bunch of these but there is a limit of 6 per customer. I may ask a few friends to puschase for me! Check it out: http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?p...campaign=V9746

These clamps have worked well for me. I bought 6 of the 36" and 4 of the 6" a few months back when these were half this price (buy one get one at the clearance price).

I've never actually seen this style of Jet clamp up close and personal. Is the bar made of better and stronger stock than say the HF clamps?

Those are nice looking clamps! I see the small size is sold out. I bought a bunch of Harbor Freight Pittsburg F-style camps. I like them; often on sale for half price. Here's the link if anyone is interested: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=96214

          They come in all sizes.

I have a bunch of the 6" and 24" versions of these clamps and they are solid and the sumogrips are great.

I also have a couple of 36" versions that I got a few years ago under the "Columbian" brand - identical in every way except color. At 36" they will bow when you need to apply a lot of pressure, even the 24s will.

This is a good price but if you need clamps longer than 24" its worth looking out for deals on stronger ones e.g. the sq crosssection aluminium bar clamps and of course parrallel clamps. Pipe clamps are of course great for both short and long clamps and you can often see these on sale. Given that you can switch out the pipes for different lengths if necessary they are are good bet to have a bunch around.

The 36" ones are a little weak, but I still find them useful. Better than HF, kidding yourself if you think you are getting a Bessey.

I bought 4 of the 36" during the last sale. Nice for the price but I was surprised at the amount they bowed under even light pressure. For most large jobs I will use my bessy clamps and these will be the backups if I run out.
the smaller ones are great, though they are big for 6" clamps.

I bought a bunch of the 24" ones and a couple of the 36" ones the last time this went round. The 24" ones are pretty good, but I concur, the 36" ones do deflect quite a bit. If you don't need tons of clamping pressure they're fine, but they won't replace bessey or jet parallel clamps.

I have some of the Jet 12" and 24" clamps. They work really great and I would pick up more if I had the chance. Not sure on anything longer than 24" - it seems they will flex.

I also have a set of Columbian 18" clamps that are exactly like the Jet only a different color.

So, given my meager selection of clamps, should I go for these if loml says OK? I've only got about 4 of each length. Or do you guys think I should make my first investment in aluminum bar clamps?

24" and under go for it. 36" hmmmm.

If you must have them and cant afford anything else for a while they will do but I can guarantee once you have something substancial they will just hang there and never get used unless you have nothing else.

If it were me I would look out for a deal on something stronger.
