That bench is $1395 new... he's asking less than 1/2 of the original price! Whoa.... Wonder why?
I also wonder why someone would pay $1395 for a new one of that quality when you could build one for less than he's asking used even though using beech and vise hardware.. it would be close to $400 frankly. I'm one of those silly people that think if you can't build a work-bench.. why would you think you could build a piece of finished furniture after you purchase the bench?
Life is puzzling to me sometimes...

Irvine is near Laguna headquarters and they seem to sell off inventory at a discount, maybe this bench was purchased at a discount a few years ago.
Maybe the guy would rather spend his time building furniture rather than work benches. When you only have so much time to spend...Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. - Thomas EdisonComment

Maybe....? And maybe he is like a guy down the street from me that got interested in WW about a year ago. He got the Saw-stop.. a Mini-max combo jointer-planer and a MM 16 band-saw. So far.. he hasn't built anything includind a work-bench. Go figure as life is a mystery..Irvine is near Laguna headquarters and they seem to sell off inventory at a discount, maybe this bench was purchased at a discount a few years ago.

If he got it at Costa Mesa then it probably is. The guy had some really nice stuff including many new unopened Grizzly equipment for half retail. By the time I got there 90% of the good stuff was sold. I got there when the ad said the sale started but apparently there were people outside his house 4 hours earlierHmmmmmmmm, I wonder if its this one?
Too many woodworkers round these parts.
I saw the table but it had a sold sign on it along with many other items. I did walk away with a Incra 5000 though.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.Comment

On woodnet one poster commented that you can't get a good clamp for the price he paid $380. I personally couldn't afford to pay anywhere near that for a clamp however. That bench is $1395 new... he's asking less than 1/2 of the original price! Whoa.... Wonder why?

I called this seller with the table. He said he was in Irvine off the I5. He only listed the table and a Dewalt RAS. The table was gone by this morning, so I think the SMC post is the table if you look at the phone numbers in the ads there and the one you posted here.If he got it at Costa Mesa then it probably is. and

and looking at the Laguna site I do think this 7' bench is the $1,700 version. The 5' is the $1,300 version.
$380

I don't agree with that to the tee.. but good German hardware to build two vises would cost around $160 -$200. A Veritas twin screw (which is not on that bench cost around $200 now I think) but those are standard hardware vises.
This makes more sense now with the post about having new Grizzly half price etc. etc. This guy is most likely buying salvage from several sources on scratch and dent. Steel City has a guy that purchases the scratch and dent and damaged by the truckload at about a quarter on the dollar. Steel City takes the name tags off to avoid liabilty and the purchaser will sell as is or purchase small parts like dust hoods that got whacked in shipping.. etc. to make minor repairs.
Good deal as often just small dents... etc. but it won't carry the standard 5 Year warranty once that name tag is pulled off. You are on your own but.. at the heavily discounted price even after the salvager marks up.. usually a great bargain price.
As far as me purchasing my neighbors Euro machines.. I have accumulated about all I will ever need over the last 37 years. I could use a drum sander but other than that a gallon of glue a month.. sand-paper is about all I really need at this point.Comment

I think the seller jussi is talking about with Grizzly and Incra stuff is different than the Laguna workbench seller. I phoned him and asked what stuff he was selling, no mention of Grizzly or Incra. jussi what is the ad for the Grizzly stuff?Comment

No. It's not the ad. That one was in costa mesa (although it's right next door to Irvine). I thought perhaps it may have been the person that bought the bench and decided to re-sell it. I just thought it was a pretty big coincidence that 2 people were selling very similar benches in pretty much the same area. But since someone noted that Laguna has a shop in Irvine, I guess it's not that much of a coincidence.I reject your reality and substitute my own.Comment
