HF ratcheting cargo bar $14; item #96811

    Fellow BT3 members:

HF ratcheting cargo bar $14; item #96811.

Can't remember what this product went for in the past, but thought I'd post anyway. Would this also be the "3rd hand" commonly used for propping up cabinets, drywall and other objects while its being installed?

    Thanks.

I don't think it's the same thing as a "third hand". More like a gadget I've been wanting for my Tacoma that keeps a partial load from sliding around. The fancy ones go for upwards of $50.

The only potential problem I might have with this is the truck bed, which is made from a composite that is pretty slippery. Good when you're trying to slide stuff out without having to climb in the bed. Bad when you want stuff to stay put.

    Still worth a look, though.

No - I can't remember what HF calls the 3rd hands, but I have a couple and they extend over 96 inches (I've used mine to create an enclosure with painters plastic sheets when sanding drywall, so I know the go that high)

Harbor Fright's version of the Third Hand is this 2-in-1 support/cargo bar. I've got a couple of these and they seem to be pretty good. If you don't need the full 12' length of the genuine Fastcap Third Hand, the shorter HF knockoff can do the same job for about a third of the price.

yep...that's the one I got. Picked 'em up on sale for $8 each. Don't listen to the naysayers that will be chiming in soon. They're one of the best deals going at HF.
