DeWalt DW746 Hybrid Saw (no fence) - $491 shipped

Amazon has the DW746 with steel wings and no fence for $491 shipped. You can add any standard fence, but the Delta T2 makes the package deal ~ $641 shipped. An American made hybrid saw with a good fence for $641 shipped.

    Dustmight,

That's a nice looking saw! Do you know if $491 is a sale price? Also, the Dewalt stuff I see is made in Mexico or China, how did you now this is U.S.?

There is a very long and interesting discussion about this saw on the Woodnet.net site currently. If anyone here is interested in this saw, it is worth your while to find it and read the comments. Several bloggers there have said it is made in the US.

That's definitely a sale price....see the Amazon price chart. I must confess that my info about it's origin was gleaned from the internet, so it may or may not be true, but it's an "internet fact" that's rampant and has been consistent for years.

It does have a big Made in the US label on the front by the bevel guage. I hope they aren't lying. That would be awful.

This is an interesting saw. It has a sliding table option, though I think reviews are mixed. In some of the photos in Kelly Mehler's Table Saw Book (e.g., pp. 23, 147, 153), it even looks as if it has a European-style guard and riving knife--though I have never actually seen one like that anywhere else, just the usual American splitter and guard.

I placed an order yesterday and it still shows a ship date of 10/1, hope that's true.

The Amazon site lists the rails for about $219, the fence looks to be about $150, bringing the total to about $865.

Still a pretty good buy, but they only ship within the contiguous 48 states. Lucky me.

                  Regards, SN

The deal is over....at $850 and $1100 a lot of other choices show up on the radar....$650-$700 to the door with a good fence was pretty attractive IMO considering that the Ridgid and Delta contractor saws both come in pretty close to that after tax, gas, etc.

I "borrowed" it from the FrozenWarrior site as an illustration of how low that price was. Had to do a "save as". No doubt you could do it with Excel if you're willing to estimate and enter the data.

I just got confirmation that my DW746 has been shipped and is due to arrive on 10/6. Guess I had better get busy and finish the unpacking and honey dos.

I guess what I'm asking is where do you get the historical price data. Would be nice to know if the latest sale is really the best deal in 1 year or just a better price than last week, if ya know what I mean.
