PC 557 at BORG on clearance!!

I heard a rumor that the Blue BORG signed a contract with Porter Cable, so I've been waiting for the BORG to clearance their PC stuff...

Sure enough, PC 557 Biscuit Joiner Type 3 is on clearance for $188 at my BORG, YMMV.

Needless to say, I gobbled one up.

I'm confused, RHunter. You tossed around the Borg - once with 'blue' and the other without. Which Borg is clearancing? Lowes or Home Depot? Sorry to be a dolt!

BORG stands for Big Orange Retail Giant, and as you can guess usually means Home Depot. But Borg sometimes is used generically, so Blue BORG would be Lowe's.

So, clearance is at HD since Lowe's is going to start carrying PC instead.

Thats pretty funny because about a year or so ago Lowes was clearing out some of their PC stuff and I bought the PC 557 for $100.

I have been waiting for a deal on this fro a while. Thanks for the heads-up! Now I can get rid of the old POS from HF. Only question: Do I give it away or just throw it away?

I bought an O'Malley Biscuit Joiner about 3 years ago (when they were still in business) for about $40- just to get the feel to see if I wanted a real one.

Now I have a real one, I am thinking about Craigslist, post here, or trash for the O'Malley... Trash would be less effort.

As for the confusion all, sorry...

Blue BORG = Lowe's (signed with PC)
BORG = Home Depot (may blow out remaining PC inventory- this may include air nailers, air compressor, routers- which I understand these new ones are not as good as the originals, etc.)

Bottom line folks, keep checking those clearance racks and look for "Yellow" Tags- I've got my daughter trained to scope them out of me!

$188 here. I got $60 worth of gift cards so I should be in around $128 + tax

Was this on clearance with a yellow tag or just marked down? My store has a white shelf sticker that says "$188 was $219". The clearance items are usually on a different shelf, maybe they just got it wrong and this is a clearance.

I really want a biscuit jointer, and I'll jump on this if it's a short time deal, but I don't really need one today.

@ my home depot is was white sticker (no indication of "clearance"). I don't have enough experience to know if it would go back up from that. I probably didn't really "need" on per se but now that i have it and see how easy it is to make panels vs dowel or spline, i'm glad i picked this model up. It was 199 after taxes in Iowa so not a huge savings from amazon ($219 + free shippping) but $20 is $20

It is yellow stickered in the HD in Augusta Maine, where I am at the moment. There are a few PC tools with yellow stickers, they are exactly 10% off, so I wouldn't think that is a clearance price, may go down further if they're really going to stop carrying PC.
