Skil drill driver $29 at Costco

I had been looking out for a small lightweight drill/driver and was in costco yesterday and found this skil version for $29.99. Wasnt sure if a 10.8V drill would do the job but it seems to have tremendous torque.

The one thing I do love about buying stuff at costco is if it doesnt work out, even a year down the line you can take it back.

Unless it is a real donkey at $29 I think it will be a keeper.

The link shows it to be $49.99 now...did I miss a discount code or did it just go up?

That link isn't to Costco. OP must've been using that link just to show a picture of the product.

Sorry for any confusion. The link is to the skil website that shows details of the tool. The deal is at Costco but their website didnt show the product.

I would agree if this was ones main drill or screwdriving tool. I have a set of ryobi one and three batteries a drill and the impact driver.

I got this unit because it was small (can get inside cabinets) and light. It also has a lthium battery and will hold its charge for a long time(they claim). It has a discharge indicator so the lowest level is 25% left so you have plenty of warning and can then just stick it on the charger that night and its good to go the next time you need it.

Also lithium batteries dont suffer from memory effect so you can always just throw it back on the cahrger after each use even if its not fully discharged.

I wouldnt see this as my "go to" tool for major screw up jobs but it seemd like a good all round utility tool.

As a comparison the little Metabo powermax kit is on sale at 50% at rockler and its still $79.99 and it is only powered by NiCads.

I own the bottom line Skil circular saw which I like. I also have one of their
jigsaws which is my number one worst tool purchase EVER.

So please keep us posted on how this drill/driver performs because I've been
                looking for one like this.

                Thanks, Paul

The electronic clutch could be an issue as I have a Bosch PS10 with one and it is different in that it stops the driving, no ratcheting and the range is short and setting sensitive. Most Skil products seem better than the B&D ones. Jig saws.... well my dad had a metal housing B&D that I hated. When I bought my first Bosch, made by the Swiss, jig saw I culd not believe how much better it was.

                    skil drill driver

I saw this at Costco yesterday and was interested in it for my wife but couldn't find any indication of the speed range. I have the Ryobi 18v impact driver and the speed range is 0-2400 RPM but it is heavy for my wife. Any RPM slower than 1000 seems too slow for most of the drilling that she does. Does anybody know what the speed range of this drill driver is? Thanks Bill

From using it a couple of times the speed is slow (not sure of RPM) however the torque is high.

400 rpm from skil.com site. You have to download the manual to see all the specs. This speed is typical for this type of tool. I am hoping/ waiting for Bosch to come out with a drill/driver maybe 800 rpm in 10.8v.
