    Online Special for Craftsman Tools

Just saw this on the Sears web site while I was busy 'working'

Online only! Buy $199-$349 in tools and Save 10%, buy over $350 and save 20%. Offer ends 01-May-2008

You can order online, get the discount, then pick up your purchasee at the store (not sure why they bother to make it "Online Only")

I used a similar deal for my 21829 - If anyone is looking to get the last of the BT3s, it makes for a great bargain...

I have ordered online in the past and picked up at the store, but my last 3 purchases did not work out that way. The website insisted that my item was not available for pickup, and wanted me to have it delivered for a very high shipping fee.

Each time, I drove to the store to find it was indeed in stock, bought it, and took it home with me.

Makes me wonder if they're trying to generate some extra income through shipping charges.

My guess is that it is a poorly managed store that doesn't keep an accurate inventory. There are also some Sears stores that are more like "affiliate" stores. They aren't directly owned by Sears, so their inventory may not be linked to the main database.

I live in a large metro area. There are 4 big Sears within driving distance, so I check all 4 when trying to make the online purchase, only to see "not available for pickup" at all of them.

But I get your point...it's probably incompetence rather than conspiracy.

When I was looking for a table saw, I found the same thing. When I tried to add the 22114 into my cart to check the savings, I would get an 'out of stock' message for pretty much any Sears in the Atlanta area.
