really dumb question, but what do you guys most oftenly use these for? I'm tempted to buy em cuz they're cheap, but I don't know when they'd come in handy haha

I mainly use mine for whenever I need some extra light and also want to have both hands free for working. They're expecially great for working laying on your back under a sink.

I googled 'meritline.com complaints' and came up with some interesting info. In 2002 they also sold stuff on ebay, and had their ebay account terminated because they were shill bidding on their own auctions!

                    also: http://www.savings-center.com/store-info/MeritLine

rated 'B' by the BBB, with 99 complaints in past 3 years:

It seems that if you don't have any problems with a defective product, or wanting to return something not quite to you rliking, you should be OK. If you need customer service, be prepared to complain to BBB.

                        Beware of quality

Regarding meritline.com: note the stingy 3 mo product warrranty. After having purchased a few other "wow, that's a good price" items from them in the past, I can only say that their made in china products are made as cheaply as possible and they make Harbor Freight items look pretty darn good. Be aware what you're getting for the price.

That said, I use my LED headlight (from REI) at least once a week for some project. If I lost it or if it broke, I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

                            Don't Buy This!!!1

Do not buy this piece of junk from Meritline, who has horrible customer service. I bought one a few months ago and it died 3 weeks later after using it only 2 times. I sent numerous emails to Meritline's customer service (they don't have any phone support) and finally heard back from them 2 weeks later.

Since it was out of their "30 day return policy" they wouldn't give me money back or even ship me out another one. Even though I contacted them within 21 days, they didn't care.

I bought this after reading of the price on slickdeals. Many other customers had bad experiences too.

Hope your experience will be better.

FYI, I paid with Amex and filed a complaint against Meritline and Amex credited me back my money. They said that a few other customers filed complaints against Meritline as well.

                              "Throw-aways"

                              Everybody,
Appreciate all the suggestions and warnings about this product. I still ordered 2 of them just to have around. Total came to $10. Now, I am far from made of money, but these fall into a category I call "throw-away" tools. Its stuff I buy from HF and other places that I get at such a good price, I dont care if it dies after 3 months. I would prefer it didn't, but I am prepared for the worst. Then again, I could have saved my $10 for a couple gallons of summer gas
