Bench Dog ProMax Complete Router Table System on Amazon for $999.99

Seems like a good deal to me, but mine is an untrained beginner's eye, so feel free to comment if it's not.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...pf_rd_i=760330

Bench Dog ProMax Complete Router Table System (Includes ProFence, ProMax Router Table 40-031, Cast Iron End Cap 40-044, ProMax Cabinet 40-074, Porter Cable 7518 Router, and 4 Cab-Loc Casters)

Although it says all over the page that it's on sale today for $999.99, adding to cart still gets me regular price... probably a glitch. Not something a call or email shouldn't fix.

Because I don't know what the heck a shaper is

Just saw a good discount and passed it on...

Since this includes the Porter Cable 7518 Router I don't think you could get a shaper with a decent fence and cast iron top with t-track for near this price. Maybe an old Delta that needs some refurb.
          just my 2 bits

Maybe I just don't get it, but...

            http://grizzly.com/products/3-HP-Shaper/G1026

            or even

            http://grizzly.com/products/1-1-2-HP-Shaper/G1035

Not saying the benchdog setup isn't sweet, but >1K is a big chunk of change to drop on a router table.

Don't shapers take different size bits which are signifcantly more expensive than router bits. For the price however I'd go with a Jessem set up.

They also run at lower RPM's - could affect surface finish.

Yeah, point taken. I'm just grumpy today and saw "1K for a router table, blech." Any shop buying this probably has a big sunk-cost investment in router bits already, so maybe not such a bad choice if you want the ultimate router table to work with the bits you have already.

Yeah, 1K for ANYTHING makes me grumpy! :-(

This doesnt include a lift either, unless I missed something.

I've got the same PC 7518 router, Bench Dog Promax CI table/fence and Prolift hanging off my saw, and its a sweeet setup!! That shaper is sweet too....good thing I have no room or tool budget left!!!
