Just measured MSUV for you. East -West you can slide these apart to an easy 36". North-South 16.5 ".Comment

Of course, nothing would prevent you from mounting the BT on a piece of plywood, and then the plywood to the mount brackets if you needed to exceed the measurements I gave .Comment

Height Solution
If it is too high, he could always go to a second hand clothing store and get some "Mod Platform Shoes" from the 70'sComment

This is $177 (not $99), but I use the Bosch TS2000 stand and am *extremely* happy. It is very stable and easy to maneuver.
The combination of a BT3100 on the Bosch and a miter saw on the older-style MSUV takes less garage floorspace than a conventionally mounted BT3100 by itself.
I also just picked-up one of the new MSUV's for my planer. You guys are "saving" me soooo much money...

Could you compare the two MSUV's? I am wondering if one is easier to handle then the other (loading, unloading, steps, moving, etc.).This is $177 (not $99), but I use the Bosch TS2000 stand and am *extremely* happy. It is very stable and easy to maneuver.

Chris B. is right
If floor space is a consideration, then using multiple MSUV for various other power tools might be the way to go. You could always roll them outside your shop for use. Now there is the issue of height for some of these tools other than a miter saw. Why not make a step platform out of scrap wood to stand on?
A basic difference- and improvement over the earlier model is that those orange sliding mounts are REMOVABLE. So this creates the possibility-if extra mounts are not overly expensive- of having several power tools - each on its own set of orange mounts stacked in a storage bin/shelf waiting to be clicked into position for use. In other words, depending on price and convienance, you could have several MSUV with power tools mounted on them, or one MSUV, and several power tools mounted on extra click on orange bracket sets, each ready to be clicked onto the one MSUV and rolled outside for use.Comment

I have the older version with a SCMS mounted on it and my daughter just bought me the new version for my birthday. I like the older one but I will find a use for the new one. At $99 I may pick up another one after reading about some of the other tools some of you are mounting on them.Comment

Richard,
I was curious about the weight myself. I looked on the Home Depot and Ridgid websites and one has it as 94lbs and the other at 101lbs.
I have a couple of steps to get out of my basement and to me, that seems like it wouldn't be much fun getting that thing in and out even if it was unloaded.
This seems like a very good deal, but for me I'll probably have to go with something a little lighter maybe this one from Sears if I can get it for under $100 and I can find out how much it weighs.

Just something to think about for anybody who has steps and/or will be loading/unloading this a lot without a ramp into the back of a pickup truck.

The anticipation of death is worse than death itself!
So don't worry about using those power tools in the rain with a frayed cord!
