Lowes 15% Off Power Tool Event

    All,

Saw this on another forum and thought I would pass it along. Lowes is having a 15% off all power tools event from 3/27-4/6. For details, see the last page (11) of this Lowes online magazine:

    http://www.lowescreativeideas.com/pdf/WWSpr08.pdf

"Offer includes all in-stock power tools, pneumatics, wet-dry vacs, and compressors located in tool world".

If not interested in anything at Lowes, Home Depot "should" honor this for 15% off their tools during this same time frame. Make sure to take a copy of page 11 from the document above, and if they give you a hassle ask for the manager to clarify the policy. I think this easily fits into their "honoring competitor coupon" category.

If interested, HD has some great deals on Ridgid tools right now (both the contractor and portable table saws are on sale until 3/30, I believe). The TS2400LS is $404 until then, and should come out to about $360 out the door with this coupon. Similar good deal on the contractor saw too. Act quick !! If using this coupon at HD, the Ridgid sale ends soon.

    Pete

    your milage may vary

Just a note, I believe that Home Depot would accept the Lowes coupon for 15% off of the Lowes original price for an IDENTICAL tool (say a Porter Cable framing nailer or maybe a DeWalt planer.) But I don't think they would take an additional 15% off of the Ridgid tools that are already 20% off, since Lowes doesn't sell them.

Using the same logic, I don't think Lowes would take an additional 20% off of a Hitachi saw after already giving a 15% discount, just because Home Depot has reduced the price on a Ridgid table saw by 20%.

But 15% or 20% off is real money back in my pocket.

Just my 2 cents (times .15!)

I think you're probably right, unless the discount is stated on a valid coupon, which they might stack. Also, Lowes might offer 20% off instead of their 15% if you bring in the HD add or just ask....every 5% helps.

It all depends on the manager or head casher of the store. When I bought my Ridgid 3660 I called around to 4 different stores asking if they would match my Harbor Freight 10% off coupon on the Ridgid. I got 4 different answers:

        1) (store closest to me). "No. Why would we do that? It would be like putting a 10% off anything, anytime sign outside the store. Someone is always having a sale. We'll price match identical items only- and only from stores, not online."

        2) "Sure, we'll match it." (after telling them what I am looking to buy) "Oh. Not on that. It's already marked down about $100."

        3) "Who is Harbor Freight?" (after explaining) "Ok. We'll give you the 10%." (after telling them what I'm looking to buy) "Yeah, thats fine. Don't think it matters if it's on sale"

        4) "Sure, we match and beat any competitors by 10%" After making it clear what I was looking to buy, and getting name of the manager I was talking to I buzzed right over there. Sure enough, she gave me the 20% discount.

Moral of the story is, call around and take names. Someone will take the 15% off, maybe more if you get someone new or in an odd mood.

Anybody have any idea if the Kreg Master kit would count as a "power tool?" It seems like that would be great if you could get the 15% off and then also get the $20 rebate from Kreg...

The local Lowe's (Anchorage) applied the discount at the checkout stand; no coupon needed. Picked up a B & D 18v drill with a combination chuck arrangement. (I already had 18v batteries.)

Try as I might, I couldn't think of anything else to buy. I know, my imagination must be dull today.

            Regards, Steve

Does HD have a policy to beat a competitors price on an item? For example, when I look up the Dewalt D55168 air compressor, which both stores carry for $359, at Lowes web site it shows $305..."reflects lower local price". This is basically the 15% off they're advertising.

              Will HD beat this price?

I got home depot to beat KMarts price on retaining wall blocks by an additional 10%. I would think they would do it on the same tool.

The 15% off was in the ad in my local paper today. I took the ad in and bought some clearance items at two different stores. The items rang up at the clearance price that was on the yellow tag without an additional 15% off. I showed the 15% off ad and asked for the extra discount. One store, no problem, they just overrode the price. At the other store, it took three people who tried to tell me that the yellow tag price was the 15% off. They finally gave me the discount - probably just to get rid of me.

But based on that, I think that the 15% discount is not supposed to apply to clearance items. But the ad does not say it excludes clearance items, so I think that you have a good argument that it should.

do you think HD will do it retroactive. I bought a DP there on monday. I guess I could still return the item and then get them to give me the 15% when I rebuy it.

No, probably not. You could return it and rebuy the item.

Thanks for the tip! I am now the proud owner of my first table saw, a Ridgid TS3660 for only 396.95 before tax (over 150 bucks off)! What a deal!

Most big box stores will honor the sale price in a set period of time, normally 90 days. If they don't want to honor the new sale price, threaten them to return the old item, and buy a new one. They don't want to take the old / used item back (can't get the price out of it since it's not new). Also the paperwork to do it is not worth it.

What I do when this situation arises is just buy it on sale, walk out the door, and then come back in to the return desk and get a refund with my first receipt. Saves the hassle of packing up the "old" item.
