I don't usually pay much attention to these things Gator, as there's not much I need after 36 yearss. But... I am going to check the local Lowe's in Snellville and the one on Pleasant Hill Rd. in Gwinnett Co. When Lowe's clear something, they CLEAR it at a great price. I picked up a Hitachi 10" SCMS before I sold it for the current 12" Hitachi SCMS for $219.
I haven't used the Bosch bits as I am a CMT guy, but they look well made and the price seems to be right. I will let you know if they are to be had. BTW.. I have seen situations that they don't put up a sign on the price. So.. not a bad idea to have them do a price check in the computer just to see. Not to say that they overlook little things.. but let the track record speak for itself. ha.. ha... ha..ha..ha..Comment

Checked on of the local Twin Cities stores, no sale on Bosch bits. Well, there was a 1/8" slot cutter on sale for about 1/2 off, but that's it. However, there was a pretty good deal on another type of cutter (see my other post)Comment

I dropped by my local about 4 miles away. No clearance with the exception of two bits that were marked down about $6 each. I spoke to Smitty, who is the tool department manager and has been there for 9 years on his take. I have learned Smitty seems to have a knowledge of the Lowe's systmem and is a very reliable source.
First.. Lowe's is not getting rid of Bosch bits and going exclusively with the Skil to his knowledge. Keep in mind that Bosch owns Skil now and would not be likely. But.. depending on what an individual store has not shown a history of sales on.. they will start the clearance process on that item. First about $5-$6.. If it doesn't clear in a month, another $5-$6 and so on till it does.
Things are a bit different when they are no longer going to carry a line period. Such was the case when they cleared the Biesemeyer fences at give-away prices. They take a major cut to get em out as quickly as possible and is usually a nation-wide thing with all stores participating.
Hope that helps a bit...Comment
