I've had a set of these for several years now and they work great. Much better than the ones that use nylon straps. You can even take the corner pieces from one clamp and add them to the other an clamp an 8-sided frame.
They've been 1 for 26.95 and 2 for 44.95 for years. I 've been getting their catalogs forever, and have thought of buying a pair, but just never got around to it.

I just noticed the pricing today and thought it was a recent sale. OOPS!

Pull the trigger on them if you do any framing work at all. I have one Merle and a Bessey Vario (with nylon straps). The only time the Bessey comes off the wall is for multisided frames or if I need to glue up more than one frame. The largest frame I have done with a Merle was about 3' x 5'. Pulled in square with no problems.

I would be using them in pairs, to clamp 4-sided cabinets together. What always bothered me was if they would be useable if they weren't laying on a tabletop, as you would do for a picture frame. I could imagine them becoming a twisted mess if you had to hold it up in the air while trying get it wrapped around the cabinet.
