    Digital Caliper @ Rockler

Last night I was going through the new Rockler catalog and noticed that their $29.95 digital caliper is now $9.95!

I stopped at my local store and asked about it and they said they have to match any current catalog price. I redeemed my $5.00 off flyer coupon for net of $5 and change and walked out of the store with a smile.

You might think I haven't contributed much to the world, but a large number
of the warning labels on tools can be traced back to things I've done...

    What $5 off coupon?

Edit: Also, I'm looking at the catalog and I don't see the caliper in it. What page is that?

    Thanks!

It was a mailer I received just before Christmas with a coupon worth between $5 and $500.

'Course mine was worth $5. Better than a poke in the eye with a frozen gopher, though.

                Omar,

The catalog is dated January 2008. I just received it four or five days ago. Here's page 103.

I went there on Sunday to pick the caliper up and they were out. It was kinda annoying. I asked there they had it and the guy was like "We're out! I bought the last one!" and then he proceeds to reach into his bib and wave the box around as if to taunt me. So then I make a comment along the lines of "darn, that's too bad", and he points to my $5 off coupon I just redeemed my flyer code for and says "You couldn't have used that on it anyways since it's on sale". Well I never said I could (even though that was my intent). But then, since he brought it up, I look at the coupon and noted that it doesn't say that sale merchandise is excluded. And he just said that it does on the flyer. It was at that point I walked away from him. I thought the whole exchange was off-putting. At the very least, it wasn't customer-friendly.

Then I went to another Rockler, and they were out at that location too. Looks like it might be a tough find for a while.

That price does not appear on their website and I have yet to receive the new catalog. I wonder why it has not come up on the site yet?

I don't have a Rockler within 200 miles of me, but given that same situation, I think the manager would have been out to have a conversation with me......

That's some bad customer service right there.

I too have seen this in the current catalog and contacted the Rockler catalog to add it to my current order and they did with no problems at the sale price. I received it today and it appears to be a very nice caliper for $10.

I stopped by Rockler after work today. They had a stack of the catalogues on the counter. I showed the employee the page and he replied it was a heck of a deal and charged me the $9.99. He also deducted my $5 coupon, but I was buying some other items as well. There were 6 more calipers on the shelf.

                          Save money and be safe,

I noticed that Rockler is now pushing a new digital caliper with fractions for $29.95.

Maybe they are selling the old model at $9.95 to deplete their old inventory.

I am pretty sure it is an evil corporate conspiracy. It is a bait & switch and that salesguy's actions prove it!

We should never buy from Rockler again. Better yet, we should sue!

Oh wait - wrong thread. I thought this was about a drill press. Nevermind...
