    Bargain Alert on Non-Woodworking Item

This is not in any way woodworking related but it is an awesome deal for somebody in the market for a decent laptop for $399.00 plus tax using in-store pickup process.

    How to get the deal?
Go to www.bestbuy.com and search for C714NR, this item is currently available for $599.00 but come Sunday this laptop is going to be available for $399.00. Add to cart and select in-store pickup. You have 8 days to pick it up or your order will be cancelled.

You can wait til' Sunday to pick it up and get the lower advertise price base on Best Buy's price guarantee or you can pick it up now (Don't Open the Box) and go back on Sunday to get a low price guarantee adjustment.

Actually my computer is one of my best woodworking tools -- CAD, spreadsheets, research, resizing/printing patterns, etc... and of course BT3Central!

If I had a $400 laptop I'd be tempted to keep it with me in the shop
      online at http://www.theFrankes.com

May I ask what CAD program you're using? I need one witha really easy learning curve. I have the attention span of a gnat.

The ones I've tried require that you adopt it as a way of life!
You might think I haven't contributed much to the world, but a large number
of the warning labels on tools can be traced back to things I've done...

Not exactly a 'CAD' program, but Google Sketchup is amazing for desiginig things in 3-D. Best of all, it's free! Check out some of 'getting started' videos on the site. It's very easy to use.

Alibre Design (www.alibre.com). There's a free version (www.alibre.com/xpress), and they even cater to woodworkers. The user community is *fantastic* and *very helpful* to new users at www.alibre.com/forum. Note there's a woodworking forum, too.

I've written a few plug-ins for Alibre Design, so let me know if you're interested and I can tell you how to get them.

I never got the hang of sketch-up, though. i should give it another try some time....

There's a bit of a learning curve as with any software package or CAD application, but it's not that bad -- The tutorials that start up when you first start up the app are excellent and will get you up to speed pretty quiclky.

Let me know if you need any help with it -- i'd be glad to help you out where I can.

This unit has sold out online but apparently some stores still has them in stock. You can buy them now and grab the ad on Sunday to get price matched. Attached is Sunday's Ad.
