    I don't see a lot of value in a 8.5" SCMS, especially for $360.

Yeah, two weeks ago we were able to get the C10FSB, the 10" slider, plus the router and the screwdriver, for $344.

The $70 off the stand was also available.

I have one of these saws I have been using for years. It is an ok saw, not terribly accurate but it is much smaller and lighter than the 10"+ ones. But I would not pay more than $250 for one myself.

Ok, but would you rather have the 8.5" slider at $360 or the newer model 10" slider with free router and screwdriver for $344? I would much rather have the additional cross cut capacity, depth capacity, newer features, free router, free screwdriver and $16 in my pocket.

only paid 80 bucks apiece for the saws

Whether I would rather have the bigger saw depends I use the smaller saws because they are much more manuverable and lighter. They are great for general framing 2x4 to 2x12 and really great for flooring projects. I use them as much or more than my 10 and 12" miter saws just because of their smaller size. The only time I need the extra depth capacity is when doing larger crown. Very seldom do I use it for posts (pole buildings) because that's why they make chainsaws.

But for the price Jeffery you are absolutely right their would be little reason to go with the 8.5". You do not lose any crosscut capacity, but do lose depth capacity. Even if you never use the xtra capacity it is better to have it and never use it than need it and not have it.

Just because its a speciality saw does not mean its not a good deal.

Did anybody pay attention to the deal and/or the math?

                  Items: $529.00
                  Shipping & Handling: $0.00
                  Promotion Applied: -$33.80
                  Promotion Applied: -$70.00
                  Hitachi Discount: -$105.80

                  Total Before Tax: $319.40

                  PLUS A FREE $120. ROUTER

That makes the Hitachi C8FB2 and the UU610CZ miter saw stand for $200. !!!

Edit-- I think everybody missed the "+ more promos" part in the title.

With the promos; the deal can be worked many different ways. Not sure if I should have put the "$360." in the title.
