    FrozenWarrior not gone for good.

Here is the text of a reply to an email I sent webmaster Bret Olmsted about FrozenWarrior's Amazon price watch.

"It should be back now. I went on vacation for a week, a backup script had some issues, it was down for a few days. It should be slow for about the next day while the database is being checked for integrity.

    Thanks for using the service,

    -Bret"

You don't need a parachute to skydive, you only need a parachute to skydive twice.

That's good to know. I saw they were down for a while and figured running the site got too expensive for him.

Thanks for the post. I too have been wondering what was up.

Just checked. Back up and running but I noticed this

        A Major Problem Facing FrozenWarrior.com

My funding source for this website has for all practical purposes completely gone away. Given this change, over the next few months I have to figure out how to keep this website running. If I am unable then I will have to shut it down completely. If the website is to survive, it will most likely be based solely on advertising revenue.

          Herb:

www.frozenwarrior.com. The feature we use is the Amazon.com pricing. The site tracks tons of Amazon pricing info including a lot of tools. You can see current pricing, recent, and 'all time' pricing history. There is also a link you can add to your favorites and click on it while on an Amazon item web page and it will open up a summary of that item on frozenwarrior. Hope that helps.

              How about now?

Haven't been able to get to FrozenWarrior.com for several days. Anyone know if the site is offline temporarily... if Bret went on vacation again... or is it closed down?

Not a clue... I have not been able to get on there, either. Given the financial issues, I wouldn't be surprised if it has shut down, although a "farewell" page might have been considerate...

If this is a funding issue, then I wonder why a more direct effort wasn't made to raise $$$ from the users of the service?

                    From Bret...

It will come back, should be within the next week. What happened:

                    1) Routine disk failure (it is RAID 5 so no big deal).
                    2) Somehow filesystem got corrupted.
                    3) Lost entire partition.
                    4) Went to reinstall OS and discovered CD drive would not boot. Ordered a new one.
                    5) I am just to the point where the OS is back and working well.
                    6) I have not installed database yet (from backup).

                    -Bret
