Pay with Your Bank Account on Amazon.com

Because you paid for orders using your bank account in the past, we thought you'd like to know that we have re-enabled this payment method on our website. We've kept your previously submitted information on file, so you don't need to re-enter any information unless any of your bank account details have changed.

When using your bank account to pay for purchases, you are subject to our bank account terms and conditions available at

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/?nodeId=15670511

Thank you for shopping at Amazon.com.

NOTE : PAY BY CHECK VIA MAIL OPTION IS GONE. THUS FOLKS USING THIS METHOD TO "SAVE" DEALS AREN'T GOING TO BE ABLE TO USE IT ANY LONGER.

Hmmm, wonder why they did this in time for November and December?

I've been trying to find figures for how much their sales dropped as a result of dropping the option in May, but have learned only that Amazon profits took a hit in the 3rd quarter.

I would find it hard to believe that their sales figures were affected in any significant way by enabling or disabling this one choice of payment. I would doubt that is what affected their decision.

I still see the "Pay by check or money order" option available.

Using a credit card has lots of protections that cash in any form does not. That's what I do.

It also has protection that a DEBIT card does not.

It also gets you points/miles/cash back on your purchases and extension of warranties

And even in addition to standard security protection, using my credit card has bailed me out on a few occasions that no other method would.

For example, when a certain merchant I will not name, in fear of promoting their business, did not meet their responsibility, filing a complaint is a reasonable process.

I was refunded the disputed charges as soon as the investigation began, and the benefit of the doubt is always on my side.
I always have the feeling that if Im ever wronged they will back me up.

And if fear is the deterrent to cc use, there are cards that generate a one-time credit card number for each online purchase you make. Thus this number can never be used again, if it is it is easily tracked and you can not be charged for it.

Personally I dont understand the resistance.
