    $12.50 20 X 72 10 ounce Shaker felt DC Bag

I accidently found an unadvertised special at my local Rockler store. I wanted a shaker felt bag for my HF dust collector. I knew Rockler carried them, and had put off paying the $49.00 for one. Today I bit the bullet, and when I got to the counter was suprised at the total of the bill. I asked if there was a mistake, but was told this was an unadvertised special as the stores would no longer be stocking this item. Should I pick up a spare? How long will these bags last?

Rockler doesn't have this bag at their website. What is the micron rating?

The bag in question was advertised as 1 micron.

I am just starting to build my HF dust collector and was looking for a 1m bag. Why is it 72" tall and do you have to rig the bag holder to accomidate the height?

RickD1, in that case, I'd definitely pick-up a spare or two at that price.

            72" Tall

            Dr. Freud,

I am pretty sure this bag was designed for another unit. I wanted to leave it at 72" but it was driving me crazy trying to move it around like that. I originally removed the bag holder, but the more I looked at the DC with a 72" bag the more I didn't like it. I cut the bag down to a more useful size and now things work like a champ! I also used a plastic bag for the lower bag. Used it for most of the afternoon and the difference was immediatley noticable.

I'm not so sure that cutting the bag down to a smaller size was the best choice. Because you're using a plastic bag on the bottom you would move more air with the taller 72" bag than you now will with it cut down.

                Cut down bag

                Sweensdv,

I was kind of worried about that, but, at $12.50 I figured what the heck. The bag gets no where near as hard while operating as the original HF DC bags. Even with a plastic bag on the bottom there is much more flow than with the stock bags.

Let me see if I can find my camera and post some pics.

Here is what the cut down bag looks like while the machine is running.
