              I keep hearing/reading complaints about the short knife life which is my only reservation with this planer. Anyone out there have any comments on the knives of this unit?

                      Check woodnet forum. I have read that the knives[3 I think] are expensive , disposable and do not last long w. hardwood. You also need the in /out feed tables as an extra cost. The planer get good reviews otherwise.
