This is a repost from woodnet. Looks like a great deal.

Seems like a pretty good price for 1.5HP collector with 1 micron bag. In the FWW 2007 tool guide it didn't come out as well as the Delta, Jet, and Grizzly equipment, but for this price it might be worth looking at.

Wonder if it is the same one as the HF DC? I have a HF DC and it looks the same.

I see the HF 2HP unit is on sale for $199 right now...does anyone know if it goes lower than this (disregarding coupons)? If $199 is the best HF can do, I might bite on this JDS deal.

Mike, the HF used to go on sale often for $149 (what I paid). Over time the sale price crept up to $159, then $169. I've not really kept track lately.

But at this price for the JDS, I'd choose it before the HF. The JDS' top bag filters to 1 micron vs 30 microns for the HF -- with the stock bags, the HF is more a dust pump than a dust collector, and the virtually required bag upgrade or Wynn filter conversion only adds to the cost. Also, it's widely accepted that the 2HP rating is optimistic; it's more like the 1-1/2HP of the JDS. Lastly, tests have shown that it moves nowhere near the claimed 1600CFM. (All DCs tend to be exaggerated in this regard, but the HF perhaps more than most.)
          Larry

It was available earilier this year for $159 (or was it $169 or $179?). Anyway, less than $199. http://www.bt3central.com/showthread...&highlight=2hp

The Houston HF stores last weekend had the 2 HP DC @ $179.
There is a sidewalk sale next weekend FWTW.

Too bad. I figured it would go quick but that was lightening fast. I hope someone got in on the deal.

Mine was delivered today. The box and styrophom was pretty beat up but everything inside looked fine. I look forward to setting it up this weekend. I don't think its the same as HF. Although it was built in Tiawan and the packaging could have been better, it looks too solid to be the same as an HF product.

I wonder how much lead is in the paint? Should I do a lead test on it?
I swear I measured it right this time.
