Looks like a competitor to the Paslode cordless nail guns. I used one of the Paslodes many years ago to do some trim work, and while it was very convenient, I found that it didn't really live up to the traditional pneumatics in terms of power, consistency, or operating cost.

I also heard that they were smelly if you used them in close quarters (at least the Paslode variety). Any truth to that ?

Yes, but not so bad that you can't get used to it.
