Thanks to all the Lowes receipt posters!

A hardy thanks to all of the posters that take the time to scan and post copies of their receipts. On Sunday I went into a local Lowes armed with an arm load of paper intent on doing battle. I had multiple receipt examples for each of the items that might be available. This is what I came away with.
Delta triangle air filter = 54.95
    Delta 50-760 Dust Collector = 100.00
Biesmeyer 30" TS fence and table set = 80.00
I felt especially proud when the manager, having been overwhelmed by the shear volume of evidence I had, announced, "Your kill'in me man!"

All I can say is thanks again to all who helped make this possible.

You can probably expect to find that manager hiding under his desk the next time you visit the store... Nice haul!

Nice bunch of machinery. I was the first to get the air filter and thanks to another forum member I just got the Bies Fence for $80. Nice catch on the duct collector. This forum is great for everything from bargains to advice to jokes. Its a real brother/sister hood. The only downside, if there is one, is that I'm going broke saving money (LOL). Seriously this is a great place and you can make some real friends here.

                How do you do it?

I am not sure if I understand what you are doing. If you take a copy of someone elses recept from hundreds of miles away to a Lowes close to you, are they somehow bound to match that price on an identical item? I dont think any Lowes that I have been to recently has any of these things anyway, at least not out on display. Can you please explain further?
I feel more like I do today than I did yesterday...

Some closeout, non-stock and/or slow moving items offered by Lowes are nationally put on clearance and discounted. Each store manager, it appears, has discretion on how to handle the discounting of items. Some managers go with the flow and others try to get the most money they can for their particular market or shelf-space. Price tags are not always changed quickly or computer databases either, so if you go into a store with an example of what other people are paying for an item, sometimes the store will match or at least make a counter offer.
Even at other retail chains, if I am in the market for any item that is for sale at other retailers, I will ask if the marked price is the best they can do. Sometimes they can tell you when the item will go on sale or maybe even give you a % off just to keep you from going someplace else. It only takes a minute or two and overall my time has been well spent.
I've been successful at Wally-World, Sears, HD and various tire stores to name a few. Our locals Lowes stores are generally pretty cooperative. Maybe that's why my 2 1/2 Yr daughter calls Lowes, Poppi's toy store.

It really depends on the manager that you talk to when you do this. I took a copy of a receipt in once to a Lowes on a Saturday morning to see if I could get a price match and the manager told me know. I went back on Monday to the same Lowes and talked to a different manager and he let me have the item for the receipt price. You win some and you lose some but if it works and you are happy you can also save some money also.

Don't forget to look for things you've heard about here but can't find in your local store. It doesn't mean they don't have it! Look in the upper storage areas of the isles. HD AND Lowes are bad about loosing stock up there. Last year there was a deal I heard of here in Bargain Alerts on a Makita drill/impact driver set that was deeply discounted at HD. Went to my local store and there were none to be found on display. I scoured the upper racks and sure enough found three stacked up there. I found a employee to get one down and we checked out the price on the computer. The employee was amazed at the price, $137 for 14.4v drill, impact driver and light. They did not have a place to display the kits and they were just forgotten about. I grabbed one and and reported it here. I went back the next night and the rest were gone off the shelf. I think the employee gottem!

It really is not so much up to the manager as it is the store operations. Each store has its own budget to meet. This dictates the ability of the manager to negotiate prices, clearance and otherwise. If you find an incredibly profitable store, then they are much more likely to discount an item for you.
