I bought one of thse 2 years ago after having to downsize from a Jet 14". It ain't no Jet but it is definately the best benchtop bandsaw out there. I have been pretty amazed at how it cuts. I second the comments on the table over the crappy one on the Rikon.

Whether it's made by Rikon or Mayor McCheese makes zero difference to. I have one and love it. I have never used a "big" BS, but this one is FAR better than my old Delta 9" BS.
As someone mentioned needing a portable BS, I don't think this is it. This thing is HEAVY.JoeComment

I just assembled mine last night. I was very impressed by the cast iron table and the guides. It’s weird to have a saw with Carter style guides for less that the Caters alone cost.
But I have some problem the saw makes a real racket when it runs, like the blade is dragging I loosened the guides, took out the insert and its still there. I didn’t have the time to remove the blade and start a motor-outward diagnostic. Did anyone else have this problem? It cuts great, even with the stock blade. I was surprised by the rack and pinion on the upper arm. This thing is just a junior Euro saw. That said it’s got its vaults, mostly in the the manual it is classic overseas almost uselessness.
Can one of you owners please tell me about tensioning the blade? The manual says there is a gage but I cannot see it. I will do the flutter method if I can’t find it.John Dyer

I think history would have been very much different if Leonardi DiVinci had a belt sander.Comment

On the tensioning, I didn't notice a gage but I didn't look for one either. I'll try to remember to look tonight.Dave - Weekend Garage Junkie

Spare parts?
Hi, Anyone tried to buy a spare drive belt etc. for the Craftsman 21400?
Can't get anywhere trying to buy from Craftsman?
(By the way I love my 21400 and cut lots of plastic, occasional light aluminum with it.)

I bought this BS last year on the recommendations of this forum and been very pleased with it. If you are thinking about getting into a BS, you can't beat the price - squeeze the trigger on this one.Comment
