    Ridgid edge/spindle sander

I didn't want to hijack the accessory kit thread, so I'm starting a new one, though it's related. I called around to the BORGs within spitting distance to see if any had the accessory kit, but they all claimed not to. Knowing how reliable BORG's inventory system is, I tried stopping in at one today in the hope that I'd find a kit on clearance. No dice. However, I did practically trip over a Ridgid oscillating edge/spindle sander on clearance (technically, under the clearance table, rather than on it). It was the display model, tagged at $99. It was missing essentially every piece not bolted down--the sanding drums, sleeves, spindle washers, throat plates, spindle knob, hex keys, and switch key were all gone. I tried to negotiate down from $99, but no luck. After verifying that the full return policy still applied, I took it anyway, hoping to call Ridgid customer service to get replacement parts. I called and asked for the sanding drums, throat plates, spindle knob, and switch key, and they're sending them gratis. I figure I can pick up the washers and other parts for pennies on my own.

Add a big "YMMV" or "Local deal" to your subject line.

I had my slippers on and keys in hand ready to make tracks to the borg when I decided to read the entire post.

      Congrats on the score.

Our HD stores now will not sell any displays as they want full credit from the manufacturer instead of giving out any discounts. They used to have some good deals on the displays as I bought a grey Ridgid BS1400, and JP610 for $200 each, and the EB144 for $100 got a Makita 12v 3 3/8" circ saw for $20 bare tool. Those days are long gone at HD here.

Wow. That's the first time I haven't been insulted when someone said I suck. But you may want to hold it in reserve until I actually receive the missing parts. I won't feel comfortable with the buy until then. If I actually had to buy the missing parts, it'd probably bring the total price alot closer to the regular $199 price.

Well, the missing parts arrived yesterday and everything seems to work fine. I just need to pick up some washers and sanding sleeves and belts locally and it'll be as good as new. Even though I don't have a specific need for it at the moment, I'm still glad I came across this deal because I know it will be useful in the future.
