I just picked up a new grill from Lowes last night. It was the $300 Char-broil Commercial Series 5-burner model, mostly stainless that was rated well in a recent Consumer Reports (compared well to much more expensive grills).
The clerk couldn't figure out why it kept ringing up at $230. I even went out to check the SKU and brought in the price tag: "$300" in BIG black letters. The SKU was the same, and so was the manufacturer's product number, though the price tag said it was a 4-burner grill -- but I looked -- all five were there.
After about five minutes and a couple of double-checks, the clerk finally said, "Well, if the computer is going to insist that it's $230, then thanks for your honesty, but that's what I'll charge you."
Cool.
It's amazing how much we all rely on computers now-a-days. I wonder if the price dropped without anyone knowing...
So if you're in the market for a new grill, check out Lowes, and don't trust the price tag!! Let me know if you want a scanned receipt.
