    Rigid Miter Saw Stand (MSUV)

Just saw this on clearance at the San Marcos, Ca BORG. Price was $99. I couldn't get one, too big for my car but stepson is picking one up for me this afternoon. Don't know if other stores are clearing these out or not.

    SKU:206-676.

Is that the old style or the new style? The older ones were on clearance back in April for $99, this one might be left over. I'll be surprised if they are getting rid of the new style after only being out for a few months.

Even if it is the old model it is still a good deal - the new one looks a bit nicer, but the old one works fine for me.

I love the old model. I haven't had a chance to use the new one, but I have two of the old and they are fantastic IMO.

What's the difference? I assume mine is the old style. I have no complaints. It's a very versatile stand.

General shape, construction materials, design and weight. From what I have read, it is easier to mount things to the old one (non traditional items, and some odd brands)

I thought it was the other way around - doesn't the new one have mounting brackets that make it easier to mount different tools? I had to drill holes to mount my Hitachi slider. That said, it is certainly easy enought to mount and, if you are not changing tools, it doesn't really matter.

The sliding brackets make it easier to mount higher end miter saws, but from different things I have seen (other miter stands) and other tools (different planners and other tools), some of the off brands won't work without a wood plate.

                    Long sentence, I know.

Has anyone out there used one of these (old one) to mount a planer? Seems like a way to have a stable platform with in/outfeed rollers.

Yep, I mounted my Ridgid planer on it and ran at least 150 bf through it. It had been the permanent home for the planer till this winter and I needed to put the miter saw on it when I installed the family room hardwood floor.

I just carefully drilled some holes and bolted it on. Be very careful where you are drilling.

I had a Jet then, subsequently, Delta 22-580 mounted on a piece of 3/4 ply on top of the the older MSUV. Worked just fine. I recently moved the Delta Planer onto a Delta stand and put a chop saw on the MSUV.
