Does anyone have this sander? Most of the other 5" ROS are 3 amps and this is 2.2. Is it going to be underpowered?

I have that sander and it is my favorite. It hasn't bogged down on anything, but I usually am not trying to take away a huge amount of material. I recently used it to smooth out the top of a small table that had some rather deep gouges through the finish, and it did a fine job.

In Tauton's 2007 tool guide, this is the ROS that took top honors, along with the Klingspor rebranded version.

I have this ROS and two P-C's. I like the P-C's better. The Bosch doesn't have a lack of power. It's hard to explain, but, the Bosch at times likes to start hopping whereas the P-C does not. I think it may have something to do with the resilience - stiffness of the pad.

The Bosch design also requires a special fitting to attach a vacuum to it.

MBG, that's interesting on the Bosch vs. PC sanders. I have just the opposite issue. I also have a PC 333 and don't get as smooth and consistent results with it. That's not to say the PC is bad, I just like the Bosch better. I guess it could be different technique.

I do agree about the darn rectangular vacuum adapter for the Bosch. It costs less than $4 for the adapter, but, since you can't find it locally, you have to order and pay more than $4 for shipping. This would be a great item for Bosch to include with the sander.

I have an earlier 2-speed version of the Bosch 1295 and love it ... except for that stupid vacuum attachment, which makes it very difficult to get on and off. I just broke one of the tabs a couple days ago.

Who needs a special fitting for a vacuum on the Bosch? I have one, use the vacuum, and never bought the fitting. Duct tape works just fine. Of course, the fitting may be easier. But, not a reason to not buy it.

It's the only ROS that I've used, but I'm very happy with it. Also, different pads are available for it in different stiffnesses. I think they have 3 types.

I have 3 1295s and love each and every one. 2 were Bosch recons and have performed fine. All have the dust collection port attached and dust collection works very well.

2 of mine have standard pads that come with the machine. 1 has a soft pad.

That's a great deal at $69.95 w/o shipping charges or sales tax. Plus if you click on the bonus link on the page you get a 50 pack of 60 grit ROS sandpaper for free, normally around $27. I just placed an order. Thanks!
