How does this compare to the Bosch in this thread? http://www.bt3central.com/showthread.php?t=30374 I'm getting ready to build a deck and looking for something that will go the distance.

They are two different types of drivers of which both will build your deck but the drill is much more versatile for many other projects. The impact type drivers do not have automatic clutches making them more prone to stripping out fastner. The good thing about impact drivers are there compact size, faster rpms and high torque ratings. The P.C. drill does have a very decent torque rating and will get the job done.

I have a Bosch 14.4V Brute Tough drill and 12V Bosch Impactor. I find that I am MUCH LESS likely to strip a head due to the hammer action and the way that it works using the Impactor in that the rotational speed goes to near zero as the head of the fastener becomes flush with the surface being driven into. If I was building a deck I would definitley want to use my impact driver. MUCH easier on your hands and wrists also.

Gotta agree with Steve. Much less like to strip fastners using an impact driver...that's why so many people buy them.

How are Porter Cable's cordless handheld powertools in general? Are they are same level as DeWalt, Bosch, Milwaukie or Makita?
            Never met a bargain I didn't like.

I am with Steve too, Impact drivers are far superior to drill drivers. Use one and you will rarely use a drill for screws anymore.
I bought my Makita years ago before they became popular. Never could figure out why Makita did not market them more then.
It also seems that PC is going to be phased out in cordless lineup by DW.
Better off with a DW recon 18v for $130.

                Geeoh -

How did you see the sale price? It jumped back into the $228 range. I think this would be a great father's day present (for me). My B&D is showing its age.

                Thanks
                Thanks again,
                Mike
