I got the same email, and was wondering if I should be interested. How much value would this bring (even at $40) versus aligning with a square (for a hobbyist)?

I use a dial guage already. One quick advantage to a guage over a square is knowing that saw blade tooth you're checking is actually being checked at the tooth. Even as just a hobbyist, I don't mind wasting wood due to my own misjudgement but I would rather not waste it due to something as simple to check as alignment.

I used something similar I borrowed from a friend when I had a cabinet saw. Found it very useful for the fence more than the saw blade but did check the blade too. Being a fence is supposed to be kicked out about .005" or so at the back, it's hard to get that accurate with a square.

I wasn't on their mailing list so I didn't get the email. I looked on their site but it's still listed as $79.99. Did they send you some type of special link or a coupon code to use? thanks

P8 - I copied and pasted the link in the edit portion of my original post and it comes up $39. Try that since the link was from the email.

Useful and i'm sure well made, but you can pick up a dial indicator pretty cheaply (i think HF goes on sale for about $7) and make the cross piece/miter bar out of some scrap wood and a bolt, nut, and washer. If you want to use it for your jointer, you'll also need a couple of magnets. Just an option for someone looking for a much cheaper solution.
