    $240, FS
I am not sure if this is a good price. I think the Tormec is way too expensive and over rated for what it is.

$240 w/ free shipping seems like a good price. I paid $299 for mine a few months ago from Woodcraft when they had package deal with the drawer 2 base and cover the same as offered on Amazon. I agree with you on the price of the Tormek.
see Tom Hintz' review on the newwoodworker.com if you want to know more about the machine.

$60 off a $299 item is pretty good (I am assuming they are including the base and cover, the sale is not that clear). What's that, 20% ? Not bad. I just picked one up for $299 so I wish I had waited...

        nice resource

        Jerry,

I had seen other newwoodworker reviews but that is a great resource on motorized sharpeners. Thanks for the tip. The few reviews for the Jet on Amazon's product page are also worth reading, IMHO. Do the Amazon reviews reflect your experience with the unit?

Straying a wee bit off thread, for those battling with this decision (like me), there is also a nice article by Michael Dunbar on (inexpensive) hand sharpening in the April '07 issue of Popular Woodworking.

Well, I was thinking of springing for one of these when Woodcraft had their 10% off Jet tools sale on the 14th, but this is a better deal. I've always wanted a Tormek but their price has always seemed unjustified for what is essentially a glorified grinder, no matter how well-designed.

Woodcraft looks to be having a 1 day sale on April 14th for the jet sharpener with a 2-drawer base and cover for $269 (unsure about shipping).
