    My first tool gloat!

I've been lurking on the forum for a couple of months finding good deals, but I never really got anything that I thought was a gloat till now. I'd been eyeing the Delta 50-760 DC for almost two months. The price had slowly been coming down, during which I'd ask the managers if they would take anything else off. Well Sunday they came down to $150 from $191, after asking, and I got it. I also had been watching the Delta DC kit (AP050), but I didn't feel I could spend $58 on it. Well today I called at lunch and the price had dropped to $27.50. I thought I'd better get it quick so I went and got the two unopened boxes. With $5 coupon I got both for $49.50 before tax! I forgot to add that this was at Lowes.

I've got to put a big plug in for my wife for letting me get "necessary" items for the building of our house! (Rigid cordless tool kit, tile saw, Makita LS1013F w/ stand, Craftsman 22124 w/base, 50-760 DC, plus lot of various hand tools, bits, and blades.) What a sweety!

Just for reference: this was in Kingsport, TN (NE TN)

Where was the dust kit? Also, could you post the receipt? I will be doing 6" mains, but at that price, I can start out with a temporary 4" until I can build the shop out.

The box on the shelf, beside the 50-760 DC, had been opened/returned. The unopened boxes were in upstock at the top of the plumbing aisle.

I'll have to figure out how to get an image of the receipt(s) and then post them.

Which store was this? Lowes / HD / Sears?

kmcconell, Bargain Alerts is officially off limits to tool gloats, being meant as a home for available deals to be shared with the rest of the WW community.

But since your a noob, and you got a great deal, I'm happy to offer a complimentary:

          YOU SUCK!!

Keep up the diligence. And keep the wife.

But if he is able to answer my question, and I am able to get the same bargain as he did, then he goes scot free, I guess...

Saw those same deals at Lowes last month. The DC was $150 for sure and I think the air filtration system was about the same price as he got it for. But since it's a non stock item, trying to find them at your local store is hit and miss.

Sorry about that, it was at Lowes. Also to maybe help others, here is what I've learned over the last couple of months watching for deals at Lowes (an irritating the managers every so often). When an item goes non-stock it is up to the discretion of the management to mark it down then or have the "clearance system" from Lowes Corp. do the mark downs. From what I understand an item will stay in non-stock for a few weeks. Depending on how it sells (I think by region or groups of stores) they will mark it down, but still above cost. It will stay at that price for a few more weeks. If it doesn't sell at that price it will take a bigger hit on price. The price decreases will become more frequent if the item is not selling. If they do sell an item or two the system recognizes that and will hold off on reducing the price thinking that it has reached a point that people will buy it at. I guess it is a semi artificial intelligence clearance system. Keep in mind that management always has the option to mark it down.

As far as side walk sales goes. I was told that they should only happen when the store has an access of clearance items or they are remodeling a store/part of the store to make room for the new stuff.

                      Heck of a Deal

Congrats on the purchases. That is a very nice DC. Your penalty for gloating is that you have to send me one of those DC kits, just kidding. Welcome to the best source of helpful information on tools and woodworking that I have found. Saved me a lot of frustration.

I am somewhat of a newbie myself and the folks here are GREAT in sharing their experiences and ideas. No such thing as a dumb question here, well unless maybe I ask it. LOL

JR, sorry about that. It was a gloat, but I did also have the intension to let people know that the Delta DC kit had just had a 50% price reduction.

You got a very good deal. I got that DC a month or two ago for $210 out of the door. It is still in the box. I haven't got chance to find a place to set it up in my little shop.

I've been playing this same game and walked in Sunday to find someone else played it better than me as the item was gone

What store were you looking at? I got one for $191 at the store near the Mall of GA. I can't wait to turn this "sucker" on.
