    bosch PR20EVSNK Colt

Amazon has this palm router with different bases and accessories (called installers kit) for 168.38
    [http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-PR20EVSN...343590&sr=8-1]
This seems to be a good price.

Does the 20% off code still work (20offPTA or whatever that was)?

The PR20EVSNK was $177 for the last few days, and I think the 20% off code was valid for this item.

ADDENDUM: I was wrong. The code is still functioning but does not apply to this item (I just tried it). I had thought the code was listed on this item's page when I looked over the weekend. Sorry.

        Isn't this a laminate trimmer?

This palm router kit can also be used for woodworking task in addition to working with laminate. Examples- routing out recess for hinge, routing edge of wood when using smaller diameter roundover bits, etc.

Looking at Frozen Warrior, it looks like this is near the all-time low (the graph looks like it has gone down to $165). But Frozen Warrior doesn't take into account discount codes/rebates. I need (and by 'need' I mean 'want') this kit but can wait a month or two if it may get significantly cheaper. Anyone with personal experience with grabbing it more cheaply?

If not, I'm going to bite.

            thanks.

(and how do I tell if an Amazon link benefits BT3Central? For example the one in the first post of this thread?)

Get the cheaper version and save some $!

I'm the first one to covet the fancy kit with all the accessories, but I bought and am quite happy with the "plain" version of this router. Note that the "extras" in this kit are really specialized tools for laminate counter tops (offset base, angled base) that have little use in woodworking.

The "plain" version has a nice edge guide and a case, and is $60 less! Think how many 20-piece Holbren 1/4" router bit sets you can order for that!

Use BT3 link to Amazon, and search for Bosch PR20EVSK.
Or here's a "plain" ol' link to the the "plain" version of this:

I was watching one of the Woodsmith online podcasts on routers. The presenter mentioned how he primarily uses the palm routers these days because they're so much easier to control than a larger 2 1/2 or 3 1/4 HP router.

I got one around this time last year for around $150 after one of Amazon's get $ off a $$$ order promotions. I do find myself using it more often than my PC690 because of the size and control.

I have the kit, and it's true that some of the accessories almost never get used. That said, it sure was great having the offset base when I needed to scribe some trim while installing kitchen cabinets. I don't know that I'd pay the extra $60 if I was using it just for woodworking, but we've got some new laminate plans in the near future, so it will definitely pay off for me.

My one gripe about the router is the one-wrench collet system. There's a button you press that locks the shaft in place, allowing you to use a wrench on the collet nut. It works great for tightening, but terrible for loosening - the button just doesn't grip well enough and I end up needing to break out another wrench most of the time.
