250' oak edge banding, $23.50, free shipping

Use "PTA2OOFF" promotion code. You get free shipping because Super Saver shipping is based on the pre-promotion cost, which is over $25. (Interestingly, edge banding is considered a "power tool accessory! )

Freud EB005 13/16-Inch Red Oak Edge Banding Tape (BT3Central gets referral credit for this link)

Search Amazon for "Freud Edge Banding" for other wood species. Melamine banding is about $20 for 250', free shipping, (same promo code).

I was just wondering if anyone knows how this type of edgebanding is to be applied. We have and industrial edgebanding machine at school but i assume that this is the type you can use an iron on or some other type. Thanks and sorry to steal the thread.

I just use a standard household iron -- I don't expect this is any different, but I'm not sure because I haven't used this brand before. Anyone?

The iron melts the adhesive and presses it onto the edge of the plywood. The ednge banding is a bit wider than the plywood sheet, and you can use an edge banding trimmer to trim off the excess.

I think most edge banding machines are designed to apply the glue to the edge banding and then adhere it to the plywood edge. This product comes with the glue already applied, so it may not be compatible with your machine at school. This product is designed to be applied with a hot iron.

I also noticed that the Freud almond, grey, and black edge banding rolls are $20.47 shipped after discount. Will this edge take paint or is it intended to be used with laminate / melamine?

I'm not certain, but it looks like high-pressure laminate (plastic) so it might not take paint very well.
