How to search Amazon for "sale" items?

Who has a good technique for finding sale items from Amazon?

It seems to me that searching for "sale" or "clearance" etc. does not work. I was thinking that it might work if one were to search for the particular GIF file names (e.g. "limited_time.gif") that appears on each sale item product page... probably using Google to do it, but how do you form that search? Just typing in the file name is not working.
    Never met a bargain I didn't like.

    a. Click here. Refresh every 5 minutes.

    b. Do an Advanced Search for "threads started by Jeffrey Schronce" and in the 'search in forums', select 'Bargain Alerts'

Easier than you'd have thunk it, duh!

Jeffrey is the resident expert around here. He might be willing to explain his magical powers to us humble folks. Well except for the parts dealing with clamps, he likes to keep those for himself (and Ebay).

I'm sure he will be around here shortly. If he's not on this forum, he's looking for bargains to post back here.

Find % off codes that work in conjunction with price drops. You can search certain discount codes in Amazons site, others you can not. It is a trial and error. A lot of folks use Frozenwarrier for price drops, for example the Stanley nailers came through that site. Frozenwarrier and the other deals sites are very limited though in their depth of dealing finding abilities. They only watch the "top line" price, not the price after applying codes. You can also put a crap load of items in your Amazon cart and will be notified of price drops.

I honestly actually post deals pretty much as soon as I find them for Amazon, WC, Rockler etc. The only thing I tend to keep to myself is extraordinary deals that are a once and off deal like 1 item on Craigslist or an item on Ebay or the like. I don't like the Ebay or CL deals in Bargin Alerts all that much since they generally affect 1 person.

Very easy. Add Jeffrey Schronce to your buddy list and check his recent post's in the bargain alerts section.

I recently came across a link that supposedly allows you to search Amazon based on Percentage off sales.

            http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/?nod...13&pct-off=70-

The link above for example, searches for all items in the tools area that are 70% off or more. If you change the last 3 characters in the url from "70-" to "90-", it would search for items that are 90% off or more, etc.

Some interesting items show up in these searches. In the 70% search I found this Starrett protractor at 72% off:

            http://www.amazon.com/Starrett-505A-...9?ie=UTF8&s=hi

But of course not all are necessarily bargains. In the 99% off search (of course I tried that) you also find things like this:

            http://www.amazon.com/Solid-Brass-Mo...9?ie=UTF8&s=hi

Was $5,690.00, now $34.80. Kind of redefines the concept of marking up an item before a sale. It says solid brass, but I think they meant gold...

Jeffrey: How does Amazon notify you of a price drop if its in your cart? By Email? Do you need to sign up for this? Thanks..

This is similar as what Jim mentioned but all in one page by category.

That link doesn't seem to be working, but I think you may have been going for this one:
