    The "Gentle Reminder" thread...

The Gentle Reminder thread had kinda derailed and was careening down a different track. I thougt that some would miss the "final decision" since it was buried on page 8 of 11. In case you missed it, clicky here.

Feel free to reply to this new post and tell me how much you love or hate my decision. I do respectfully ask that the really nasty messages be sent to me via PM.

The spirited discussion also prompted me two make two other important posts today:

A bit of BT3Central background and BT3Central Funding FAQ

    Gracias!

    Love your decision!

Thank you Sam for the site, help, warm community that you have started here.

I am in favor of your decision and like many of have said, i think we all feel that this is not just a site somewhere out there on the web, instead, a community has formed and you get a family like feeling when writing, asking or answering a post. As a family, we all support one another.

    once again, thanks for everything!

      I agree. I am now a contributor.

I bought my BT3100 becaus e of my novice interest in WW and the price was right (100$ or so after rebate). That led to my discovery of this site and the rest is history!

thnks for the great site, nice/informative lurkers, and the ability to access it freely.

Sam - I don't post often but I've been hanging around this site for awhile. Based on everything I've seen in the past, I would have been surprised (really surprised) if the discussion had gone any way other than what it did. You especially, but also those who have made this their choice of websites are definitely NOT typical of what normally goes on with this kind of forum.

I didn't voice an opinion earlier because I thought the final decision was certainly up to you. There is a photo restoration site, retouchpro.com, that is funded the same way as this one. I was a member of that site for 4 or 5 years, and it was a great site just like this one. I think your decision was fueled by your upbringing, at least a little. You're right....your parents did a great job.

On the Forum page, near the bottom is a link called "View Forum Leaders". It takes you here.

As a side note, some of the Patrons listed are 2006 Patrons whose subscriptions have not expired yet. I just didn't want someone to try and add them all up and accuse me of "lowballing" the fund drive progress.

Ya, I just found out about it last week. Along with terms and conditions, how to use a few vbulleting commands, bt3 chat, screen width thingy, more useful CP things, etc. Was a very productive week last week!

                        Sam,

Thanks for keeping the forum open. I just joined a short while ago but have not been able to contribute financially as I am currently unemployed and funds are really tight right now. However I have contributed by posting a pretty good find. I personally don't try to take advantage of any forum by posting material that is unrelated or irrelevant. I have done a lot of volunteering for various organizations, mostly with no compensation. I have even volunteered to be a Girl Scout leader for my daughters troop and have been involved with it for 2 years.

It is only a few that usually ruin it for the majority of members. I will most likely be a lurker as are many of the members, but I promise that I will post if I run across any good deals. When I get back in the world of the gainfully employed I will definately contribute financially.

                        Just my $.02 worth.

Bravo Sam! It took me longer than normal to craft the reply I made to the aforementioned topic. Then to see shortly thereafter that the topic was locked! I guess there was plenty of discussion on that and I agree with your excutive decision. I still have a few mixed feelings that I may share with you in a future PM but am trying to think of both sides and whether it even matters.

I truely think it is the civil discourse on topics such as this that showcase the family like atmospere this forum has acheived likely due to your leadership in the early days fostering an environment where there is plenty of respect and civility towards contrary views. Your parents deserve a "well done"!!
