    Porter Cable 9444 Detail Sander $54.99 @ Lowe's.

Came across this sander at Lowe's today in their discount shelf. Regular $109, so I picked one up. Not sure if this is the local store only or not.

Let me know how it works. The reviews on Amazon are not very positive.

We have one at work -- it works for the jobs we use it on. (Mainly stripping finish from door edge details when a customer changes their mind on finish). That made the sale for me.

The PC detail sander is universally dissed on most forums. Look up a most worthless tool poll and you'll find it up there.
I don't own one. I don't know why they are hated so much, looks logical to me.

AKA, "Profile Sander". I have one and, IMO, about the worst gimmick tool ever produced.

Maybe the detail sander is one of those tools that is very specific in it's task. I passed on buying one at my Lowes when they closed it out for $45.00. I just don't have a need for one. For as little detail sanding I do, I just don't have a need. It would really upset me to buy something that I have no use for. Might as well take $45 and give it away.
