    Question about an 'alert' site

Sorry that this a bit OT but I've lost the link to the site where you insert an ASN # from an Amaz0on listed item and they notify you when it goes on sale.

    TIA,
    Chiz

You are probably referring to frozenwarrior.com.

I guess thats what it's advertised as doing, but I've never received an alert from there before and at one point I had over 100 things being watched. I guess it's possible that none of them ever dropped in price, but it seems like at least one of them would have.

Yea, ds, that's it. I've had them contact me once in the two months that I've used them - two items - and the 'sale' price was $5 off. I guess it still counts.
      Thanks,
      Chiz

Ya, I have had emails that the price has dropped $.05. Kinda makes you chuckle. I also have noticed that I haven't gotten emails from them even though the prices have dropped. Don't know if the site is getting over loaded or what now, but it is still a good service.

The thing with that site is that it can only report Amazons current selling price without any promotions. Thus you will never know when Besseys cabinet kits are $65 due to promotional codes.

I guess that's why the notices for such miniscule price drops. It also tells me that it's not worth much when it comes to flagging sales. Did I say "much" ?

FrozenWarrior site is run by one of us fellow BT3ers, and I believe he was using the tools himself so he decided to make it available FREE to others. As a free service, I think we should not complain too loudly.

While it does alert to changes in prices, I've seen many, it is not realtime so it will probably never get you that incredible deal on something. Rather, if the price moves for more than a day then it will tell you the next day. For other fast moving stuff, keep hitting F5 refresh on your old BT3 Bargain Alerts page or try to channel Jeffrey Schronce.

The best use of this site is to check if a current price is really a "best" price or even a good price based on the price history. Often Amazon promotes something as a "hot buy" that is actually higher than another price it has had in the last 90 days. OR, for things that stay steady at a given price, you can guess that there is little point waiting for a price break ala Amazon's famously chaotic pricing, so you might as well get it "now" if you need it. That is how I use the site and I find it invaluable. To check prices, you can click on the Search link--you will need to cut/paste the ASIN # from the Amazon product page. (There is also a way to add a link to your favorites menu so if you are on a Amazon product page, when the Favorite is selected it will do the lookup for you w/o having to enter the ASIN.)

              Never met a bargain I didn't like.

I didn't want to sound like I was complaining, I wasn't, just stating my recent experiences with it. I do use it quite a bit and like using it, especially as noted above to check on past prices.
