    Dewalt DW734 Thickness Planner - $260 CDN

Home Depot Canada has the Dewalt DW734 Thickness Planer on clearance for $260 CDN (approx $220 USD) + taxes.

    Regular price was $399 CDN

Price is valid for in store purchasing only ...

(This sucks as I just purchased the Delta TP400LS at Christmas! ...)

    Features:
    • Powerful 15.0 Amp, 10,000 rpm motor handles larger, deeper cuts in hardwoods.
    • Three knife cutter-head provides 96 cuts per inch, one of the finest finishes of any portable planer.
    • Disposible, reversible knives deliver 30% more knife life and make knife change fast and easy.
    • Four-column carriage lock drastically reduces the movement that causes snipe.
    • Extra-long infeed and outfeed tables provide 33-1/2" of material support.
    • Material removal gauge and thickness scale deliver accurate cuts with every pass.
    • Turret depth stop allows users to return to their most frequently used depths with ease.

Ya ... for up here, it's a super deal! ... hopefully some other Cannuck will benefit from it.

If I hadn't just bought the Delta TP400LS at Christmas, I would have definately bought one ... the only thing going for it versus the Delta is the 3 blades versus the 2 on the Delta ...

        Thanks for the tip

I picked up one of these over the weekend. I have a low end Delta which cost me about the same when I bought it. The Dewalt blows it away. Very little snipe (and what the machine produces is very manageable). And a very good cut. It will be interesting to see what happens after I use it for awhile. Thanks again.

I actually call the local BORG and they said they would glady let me return the Delta TP400LS I bought on clearance at xmas ... even though I didn't have the box, but hadn't used it yet ... in exchange for the Dewalt DW734 if I so choosed.

But I decided not to bother as I've already spent more than planned this year on other tools (and SWMBO hasn't been too impressed, but did agree to let me change it if I wanted) ... and I had just bought the optional dust chute and 2 additional sets of blades for the Delta (thanks to a good friend )

The Dewalt doesn't have a stand nor an additional set of blades like the Delta, and was going to be another $80 to boot for the difference ... personally I think the cutter lock on the Delta is a better design IMO ... so all I would be gaining is the 3rd cutter and a slightly better finish ... so it will have to due for now until I can find the Dewalt DW735 at a steal!
