Will that work on the Delta Midi? I have the extension for it. Didn't see any reference in the description.

I was thinking of remodeling our stairs instead of a sheetrock wall (cheap track home builders) to a spindle/railing.
I do not own a lathe. Would this be practical to make my own spindles and buy a setup?

Sorry to go semi off topic.

          Andrew,

I did something last year quite similiar to what it is I think your planning. I too thought turning spindles would be a greater starter lathe project and be the perfect excuse to make the lathe plunge. But - this was a project that affected our daily lives (gutted the living room) so I didn't have all the time in the world. Plus when you figure in the price for preturned spindles at the Borg for something like $3 - $4 each, I passed on the lathe idea for now.

If you have the time and can turn them ahead of time, go for it. And if you want to be real adventureous, by the bits to rout your own handrails

              double check versions!

Looking at the Palmgren offerings on Amazon, it appears that they offer two lathes - a 12" with a tubular steel bed (84312), and a 15" with flat cast iron bed (84315). They also offer two versions of the CopyCrafter, (I assume one version for each lathe). However, unless I'm confused, the pictures of the Copycrafters seem to have been transposed - the 12" 84901 CopyCrafter is pictured on the 15" lathe, and the 15" 84902 CopyCrafter is pictured on the 12" lathe. I believe that you need to order the appropriate version so that you get the proper mounting brackets for the type of lathe you will be using (unless they supply multiple mounting brackets with each CopyCrafter - can't tell from the description). Unfortunately, while I'm interested in these myself, I have no experience with how well they work.

                    What lathes does it fit???

I sent an email to Palmgren...have not heard anything as of yet. I will be the guinea pig...I ordered one. May be a $54 paper weight...but I'll send a report when it arrives.

                      It showed up

I ordered one of these based on the picture on Amazon. They have two models. One for a tube lathe and one for a real lathe ([)

Based on the picture I ordered an 84901 for a flat bed lathe. I got the tube lathe model. The correct model is the $99 84902, currently pictured with the tube lathe on Amazon.

Be sure you order the right one for your lathe if you get one. The pictures are swapped. I've alerted Palmgren to this error.
