Thanks for the heads up! I have a line on the older M12V, and I'm giving him until this afternoon to get back to me. Hopefully the deal is still on at Amazon by noon so I can still get it!

It is good only on Hitachi tools. Click on the tab at the top called Today's deals or the link is here.

ahh, ok, I was hoping it'd apply to the planer (which is back to $249, wish I didn't miss the $180 deal)

FWIW, Check out your local Home Depots here in Canada as they are clearancing out the Delta TP400LS Planner for $199 CDN ... I scored just before Christmas ... and got a $25 gift card from the purchase

I'll check it out, thanks, I need a planer and a joiner, and I don't want to spend huge amounts of money if possible... although the reviews for this model on amazon are very very negative, so I'm not sure I'd want to risk it.

Which model reviews are your referring to? ... the TP400LS? ... can't believe everything you read

yeah, although I am getting a lot more tempted by the one on sale on amazon for 129 (and free shipping), I might just end up getting a mailbox in the US (45 min drive from my place) and start ordering things at the nice prices available for US-only orders...

Make sure you get a box at a place like the UPS Store with a physical address. Amazon does not deliever most items to USPS PO. Box.

Cool ... might want to make sure Amazon will ship large images to a PO Box

Edited: Looks like Jeff beat me too it by a few seconds!

yeah, there are a few businesses close to the border that specialize in this kind of thing.

BTW, all the local HDs are out of stock of the delta planer

I'm about 1 ~ 1.5 hour from the US border myself, but haven't bothered with a PO box as I have a few friends in both NY & MI states that I can get stuff shipped too ... biggest problem is dealing with Canada Customs when driving stuff back across the border at times ... although I haven't tried it with woodworking specific equipment.

I decided to order the $139 12 1/2 planer and we'll see how it goes, there are so many of these different border delivery places it's hard to pick: I chose one about 45 minutes away because seemingly it had better ratings (and allowed internet sign-up) but we'll see how it goes when the package gets there in 10 days or so.

Better to try this with a $130 item than with a $500 one!
