Steel City Rebate

Hi,

Don't know if this is a bargin or not. but Steel City has a rebate program for many of this products.

I just picked up a bench top mortiser that included 4 chisels and got a 50$ mail in rebate.

Cost was 269 + Tax = 287.83
Rebate of 50.00
Net was 237.83

The Delta MM300 was 219 with out a rebate.

The table on the Delta was not as smooth as the Steel City and the movement on the Deleta did nto feel as good as the Steel City. The feel of the movment might be subjective so take that as you will.

I will be posting a comentary about setup, and use when I get it unpacked this weekend.

The Delta MM300 is their shopmaster line - not really what you'd want to compare to the Steel City Model. The Unit that Delta has that is closer to the Steel City is Model 14-651 (looks like its currently $249 on Amazon but does go on sale off and on):

I have the Delta 14-651, and have seen the Steel City. The Steel City is almost a direct copy, with the exception of the table which has a few nice additions over the Delta of the rollers and the extensions.
