    not really bargains

Found these used HF tools on sale on local Craiglist:

    http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/tls/247552984.html
He's asking for $100 for the used drill press, but it's the same as 38119 that's currently on sale for $40 new (or $34 with the 15% coupon)

    http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/tls/249341331.html
He's asking for $125 for the used lathe, but it's the same as 45276 that's currently on sale for $85 new (or $72 with 15% coupon)

As long as the ads are not deceptive (e.g., listing an inflated retail price for an used item), the seller is free to set his terms. This does not mean that the seller will get the prices that he wants. It is up to the buyer to know what he is buying (caveat emptor).

Maybe the seller have no idea of the actual value of the used items or has a financial issue that we are not aware of. I am not defending the seller. Like most people, I hate to pay more for an item than I have to. Again, the buyer should know what he is getting himself into and is free to walk away from it.

The price prolly includes dinner for two at a fancy restaurant, and some free cell phone minutes!

I'd bet that the seller has no idea what these things are or what they are worth. He's probably cleaning out his deceased grandpa's garage.
