    28k BTU Propane Heater $124.50

at Home Depot, half price. With thermostat and blower, heats 1000 sq. ft. Free shipping.

I ordered one to replace my non-thermostat or blower 15k BTU.

**&^%$ I can't get the link to work, it's the Charmglow Model CGL300TB
on the first page of portable heaters.

Good deal with blower and thermostat. Are these sytems generally safe in woodworking environments? Does it pull combustion air from outside or inside?

Jeffrey, My self and many others use ventless Propane heaters in our shops. I have used the 15k for years. I read of issues with high humidity in shops due to using propane or kerosene, but I have a cast iron saw, jointer, DP, BS, etc. and have not witnessed this.

        Dash,
I do when I screw up and let the 2 100 lb. tanks run out, like I did this afternoon. Had to hook up the 20 lb. grill tank. There is copper tubing, a regulator and fittings that has to be bought connect to the heater to the tanks. All the tanks I have seen, 20 and 100 lb. have internal threads to accept the fitting on the copper tubing. Newer 20 lb. tanks also have the quick connect external threads.

I went to a gas appliance store and explained what I needed to do, they knew all the fittings and regulator that I needed. Just had to buy the tubing after that. I think the fittings and regulator were around $20.

Ken, how long does a grill tank work for you?

          Thanks, Paul

Is this an open flame? Is this safe in a shop with sawdust etc flying around? What is the required distance from walls etc if anyone knows?

Looks like the heaters are gone online... and back to the regular price.

Paul, 2 100 lb. tanks last me all winter with gas to spare for the following Autumn.

And Paul, I don'e see any safety issues. They are intended to be mounted on a wall but I definitely wouldn't pile lumber against one when it is lit. ;-D

The Charmglow heaters are also sold at Northern Tool (www.northerntool.com) under the name ProCom. They have several on sale now, but generally the regular price is higher than the HD regular price.

I seen one at Northern Tool yesterday. I think it was the same one for $199....I just might have to get one...How long do you think it would take to warm up an uninsulated garage?????I rent so insulating isnt an option..I cant even get them to remove a tree that fell over...it started to wash away last time we had a lot of rain...Its sitting in a river...huge eye sore...hopefully people complain...maybe they will get rid of it then..I have two more that will probably fall within a year....They wont cut em down though....
