    MilDoc,

That's Amazon just being Amazon. Believe it or not, that saw was down to almost $300 at one point.....and nowhere is it over a grand.

I paid less for the latest Hitachi 12" CSMS (C12LSH) from Amazon, about 7 months ago.

Amazon prices fluctuate tremendously. If you need a 10" CSMS, I would wait, as you can get a much better deal.

At least they wised up and changed it to 12 Amp. The had it listed last week as 12 HP which is a bit much for a CMS.

But wasn't that the Tim Taylor version?
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

OK, so not a great deal. I haven't been loking at CMS's until recently and that one caught my eye. Guess I'll keep looking.

              MilDoc,

I don't know if this will interest you, but Amazon also has several Makita CSMS with several discounts and rebates.

For example, this 10" goes down to $454.94 after the $50 discount. It also has a $30 Mail-in rebate, and a rebate for a free 18 Drill/driver.

              Here's where it gets interesting:

if you spend $500 on Makita tools through Amazon, you get $100 towards your next purchase.

So you would have to purchase another Makita item for $45.06 to be eligible for the $100 Amazon gift certificate.

I have the 12" version, and it is awesome.

Recon ls1013 $360-$10 disc. $350 is a good price, $360 for the newer model w. laser. I paid $450 after RB for a new ls1013l. These are made in the USA and not Mexico like DeWalt, or China like the Hitachi.

                  Andrew,

the makitas are "assembled" in the usa.....far from made over here. you would be disappointed to learn how many parts are from china.

i did a little research after i purchased mine, and it's more of a ploy to get customers to think there is a big difference, but in fact, they have the same ratio of chinese parts to german, and u.s.

all it takes is for them to have to bolt together a couple of pieces and they can claim it was made in the states.
