Was in HD and they had a sale price on the Ryobi BTS15 tablesaw for $127. It doesn't look as sturdy as the 3100, but seemed pretty good for that price, opinions?
BTS15 compare to 3100? on sale

I'll make this really simple.
NO!!!
Sorry, had a moment there.
Unless you just plan to use it for a minor project here and there I stand by my answer.Brian

I also have one of the smaller Ryobi table saws for minor repairs on our second home, mostly to rip think plywood so I can rebuild interior window trim. It's not for precision woodworking. The fence sucks and is very easily damaged to the point it's useless if dropped or dinged. I paid $50 and now I'm sorry I didn't spend a few extra bucks and buy something better.Comment

A good dado set would be mounted on another saw.
I really feel that the saw is too small for a dado blade. I guess a small 6" stacked dado would be the most you would put on it. No wobblers and not an 8" stack.
I think the BT3100 handles dado blades okay, but any less of a saw would be a gamble.LeeComment

It is sad that Ryobi no longer makes this wonderful saw. I don't understand the downgrades. I am so thankful that I was able to find a BT3100 (2 1/2 hour drive but it was worth it). It is the same story with the AP1300 planer. I was lucky to find one (45 minute drive, but it was worth it), but I just don't understand the downgrades. The new Table Saws and the AP1301 have significant downgrades! I hope this is not a trend in other product lines or in other brands!

BTS 115 to Bt3100......
Abosolutely NO Comparison, a very limited toy saw compared to a real saw....NO WAY!
The Bt3100 is the best that Ryobi has ever made....leave the other where it is, at HD sitting on the floor! Might be good enough to cut old scrap wood up for fireplace kindling, not
accurate enough for more precise woodworking projects like the Bt3100. eezlockLast edited by eezlock; 12-06-2006, 05:14 PM.Comment

I used to have a BTS15. I recall asking about a dado thoat plate, and IIRC, I was told by Ryobi that the saw was not designed to handle a dado blade. Anyway I was lucky and sold it on CL, and upgraded all the way to a TS3650, and never looked back.darksider
