    Habitat for Humanity Restore

If your town has a Habitat for Humanity Restore, it's time to check them out.
The proceeds from the sales go towards Habitat projects and you can drop
off (some stores will pick up large items) for a tax donation receipt.

We are fortunate enough to have one in my town and they have some great
inventory--albeit, used. It seems a lot of remodeling is being down in our
area so there is always new inventory of cabinets and hardware. I have been
able to buy wall cabinets for my shop for $5. They were in great shape and
better yet, I can't beat that price to build them. Some people donate whole
sets and I also got several cabinet doors that were never used for $5/door.
The hinge holes were already bored.

There are always lots of shelf standards which were 1/3 the price of HD and
now serving as my lumber rack.

It's my new best favorite place. Like a garage sale but with stuff I want.

glad you had some sucess with it. we have one in our area, and i thought most things were grossly overpriced and well used. so i haven't been in about a year. maybe it all depends when you hit it.

Same situation here as Rob described. The prices at the Restore here are extremely high for what you get. I'm all for helping out Habitat For Humanity but not when I can buy brand new for less than what they're selling very used for.

Our local Restore is not a great deal either. Paint can be a decent deal, especially outdoor stains. The cabinets they had when I was in there were either a bit too high or they were way nasty.
They did have a ton of new but very dated cabinet hardware which is good for shop cabinets.
If you have one nearby it is certainly worth taking a look. And always remember them when you are upgrading microwaves, stoves, dishwashers, etc. As noted donations are typically tax deductible.

I bought my BT3000 for 50 bucks at a ReStore.

So it's not really fair to say there are no deals there.

There's just not a lot of deals there. I've been several times, and most things are priced similar to retail (which dosen't make much sense at all to me). But there are usually a few things that are bargins...if you look REAL close.

It's at 9100 Gaither Rd, Gaithersburg, MD

Too bad the rest of you haven't found better deals. Most cabinets will be
"shop" quality but it's working out great for me because I am setting up shop.
              Happy hunting.

If you think it's overpriced, make an offer. It works at the store here.
