I have a couple of blades as well. The CMS blade at $29 is awesome.

I'm finding the $11 (plus s/h) 24T TK ripper to be competitive with my $55 rip blades.

As I've said before my preference is for full kerf blades but I decided to buy one of the $11, $18 after adding shipping costs, 24T Irwin thin kerf rip blades just to try out. I have to admit that so far it's been performing admirably on the red oak I've used it on.

Other than the fact that it's a thin kerf another drawback, from my perspective, is the size of the carbide teeth. There really isn't a lot there to be resharpened. I suspect, but I could be wrong, that I'll only be able to have this blade resharpened once. On the other hand, it will make a good backup blade for when my Freud LM72R010 one is out being sharpened.

Hi Dave - My former ripper was an LM72R010x that did a nice job but bogged a little on my 2hp GI, and also on my 1-3/4hp 22124 when ripping 3" hardwoods to near full blade height. I found that my DW7124TK and Leitz 24T TK both ripped with a faster feedrate on the same wood than the LM72 and with comparable cut quality. What's your experience been?

Dustmight, I would say from my limited use of the Irwin blade that the cut quality is a little nicer with the LM72 than with the Irwin blade but by no means a night and day difference. The reverse can be said when it comes to ripping feed rate with the Irwin holding a slight edge over the Freud. I very seldom rip anything over 1-1/2" so I can't really comment as to how these two blades react to 3" stock. I'm not saying that this is the reason why your saws bogged down when using the Freud but its been my experience with my 1-1/2 HP RIDGID contractor saw whenever it has bogged down on me it was always from too fast of a feed rate, i.e. operator error.

Without getting into the pros and cons of TK vs FK lets just say that I'm aware that a TK can rip faster under certain circumstances but I prefer the reliable uniform cut that a FK offers. YRMV.
