    Freud FT1700VCEK Lowe's Via Amazon.com

If anyone is thinking about purchasing the Freud FT1700VCEK router (which currently includes the mail-in offer for a free plunge base), I figured I would give a price-match trial to the local Lowe's.

Went on Amazon.com and put one in my shopping cart, selected the free shipping option. Then added the 'SAVEMORE' code for $25.00 off for a total cost of $144.00. Did a screen print to capture that info on paper and headed to Lowe's.

Went well, just asked if they would do a price match and showed them the print-out. About 30 seconds later we were headed toward the checkout counter where the tool corral manager 'remembered' that Lowe's has the policy of "price match plus an additional 10% off".

That brought the price down to $129.60 for an 'above the table microadjustable, above the table bit change' router. Might not be the router deal of the day, but the above the table options seemed to make it a pretty reasonable deal to me.
From the NW corner of Montana.

    Sweet!
Some of us who paid full retail (with no plunge base) certainly do think it's the deal of the day!

Congrats, you're gonna love this router.

I wasn't thinking about it, until you posted this!

Here's the link to the plunge base promo on Amazon.

Stan - I bought an FT-1700 last spring during the Amazon/Freud sale. Even without the plunge base, I absolutely love the above table features the FT-1700 offers. Shortly after purchasing the FT-1700, the deals were too good to resist on the Milwaukee 5625. Even though the 5625 is a terrific router in it's own right, and certainly has more power than the FT-1700, the FT1700 is usually the router sitting in my router table...the above table features are just so nice. I've done raised panels with the 1700, but if I'm doing alot of them I'll use the 5625 for the added HP. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do!

        Congrats on a great deal!

          SAVEMORE CODE doesn't apply

I was all ready to go down to the local Lowe's armed with my Amazon.com printout, but when I typed in the 'SAVEMORE' code, I got an error message stating that this code couldn't be used for this purchase because the router is being sold by a third party, Peachtree in this case. What a bummer.

Jim, ya gotta try again, buddy. I don't know how you got onto a third party, but the router and all of the discounts mentioned are available directly from Amazon.

              Router is on the way

Thanks JR for the advice. I went back to the link provided above and had to do a search. I found the offer at this link.

Not a bad router. An acquaintance, Charles Mac (Freud rep) showed it to me at the IWF show in Atlanta along with the 3 1/4 HP. You will love the above the table adjustment.

You guys are amazing with your knack for finding a bargain by chipping away at the various deals offered and taking it to the next level with counter offers! "The Donald" might possibly contact with "You're Hired"! ha.. ha..

Can't say I need another router at the moment as I run a Milwaukee 3 1/2 HP under the table and a Dewalt 625 plunge, a Bosch variable fixed for free-hand work. But that's a good deal IMO with a 5 year warranty!

                Regards...

                  Stan,

Gonna give us some impressions after using it? As in, have you used it on a few things yet????

Would you do it again? As opposed to the M12V or the Bosch 1617?

Soon as I have time to get out to the shop and play with it a bit, make a plate for the router table, etc.... then I'll add some info to the post here.
